Skirting The Issue
For someone who claims to not like blogging about womenswear, I certainly seem to be doing it a lot of late. But this post is kind of a blend of women's and menswear. Sure the model is a size Nothing so a regular man's shirt will do, but I like the creativity involved in doing it. I myself have done a couple of the looks. With men's skirts having popped up in the zeitgeist again in the past two years, I've been toying with the idea of wearing my old skirt from the early 90s, but have been defaulting in my somewhat staid NY neighborhood by wrapping shirts, scarves and sweaters around my waist to emulate the look without being overly confrontational (New York may be a fashion capital but it isn't necessarily as forward as one would think).
Oh, and if this demo video is intriguing. Olivier Saillard took it to another level at Pitti Uomo in Florence, showing how a range of menswear items could be repurposed into womenswear articles, and showed it on former top runway models from the 80s and early 90s. Style Bubble has a cool article on it.

It doesn't come as a surprise that NYC isn't all that fashion forward, but it does come as a mix of comfort and disappointment *sigh* .
I like the clip, though, and thank you so much for linking to that Susie's article - I hadn't seen it and it is really cool.
