Big Bangs For The Buck

I'm a huge fan of James Roper's pop-culture-informed artwork, since I watch anime and love comics, and Roper's work has elements of both. After attending the opening of his most recent exhibit in NYC, I was even more blown away by his technique after getting to view it up close and personal. It amazes me how precise he is with natural media, getting results akin to computer-generated work in his canvases. I even considered purchasing one of his older pieces. However, after some soul searching and a review of funds and apartment decor (which would have needed some serious revamping to accommodate the large and attention-getting painting) I decided to forbear.
So it's fortunate that he should offer digitally-reproduced versions of his work via INPRNT, a site I've already blogged about in the past. "Inhibitor" and "Standpoint Conversion" are two pieces that work well together almost as a diptych, featuring the classic - if you can say such a young artist already has classic work - Roper leitmotifs of roiling fabric, disjointed body parts and fiery anime-style atmospheric effects all exploding on the canvas. I've already purchased one piece and can assure you that the print quality is phenomenal. The colors all reproduced wonderfully, looking just like they do on my monitor. But maybe the best part is the price. At a mere $80 per 24" square print, you get a lot of exploding, original art for for the money -- more bang for your buck indeed! Check out the James Roper prints on INPRNT here.
